My name is Shamika Torian, and I was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina.  I have one son, Michael who is in 9th grade.  I have an associate degree in Early Childhood, a bachelor’s degree in early childhood administration, and I now have my Birth through Kindergarten Licenses from UNC-G.  This is my 2nd year of teaching Kindergarten at Pearson town, but I have been teaching for over 10 years.   Prior to working at Pearson town, I was a NC-PRE-K teacher for 3 years, a substitute teacher in the Durham Public Schools (DPS) system as well as a group leader for their before and after school program.  In my free time I like to watch international television shows, travel, and eat.  I also have a collection of Tweety birds.  

As a Kindergartner teacher, I have learned many things and attended many training sessions to help me prepare for this upcoming school year.
